What Counts as Urgent Care?
Urgent care is for conditions that need prompt attention but are not immediately life-threatening. Examples include:
- Vomiting or diarrhea (more than once, or with blood)
- Eye redness, discharge, or sudden squinting
- Ear pain, shaking head, or odor from the ear
- Limping or sudden lameness (non-weight bearing)
- Cuts, wounds, or bite injuries that may need stitches
- Urinary straining or difficulty urinating (call us immediately)
- Mild allergic reactions (hives, facial swelling without breathing difficulty)
- Known or suspected toxin ingestion — call poison control and us right away
True Emergencies — Go to an ER Immediately
For life-threatening situations, proceed directly to an emergency veterinary hospital. Do not wait for us to open.
- Difficulty breathing or choking
- Collapse or inability to stand
- Seizures
- Severe bleeding that won't stop
- Loss of consciousness
- Suspected snake bite
